DPI is only one part of quality. The condition and size of the original, scanner, tonal range and processing all matter. These are practical starting points.
| Material | Typical resolution | Available output | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Printed photographs | 300 / 600 / 1200 DPI | JPEG or TIFF | Screen viewing, archive, reprint or enlargement |
| Slides and negatives | 2400 / 3200 / 4800 DPI | JPEG or TIFF | Archive, TV viewing and high-quality printing |
| Documents | Selected for size and legibility | Search-ready PDF by agreement or image files | Personal, company and association archives |
JPEG is convenient for everyday use; TIFF is the better master file for further editing and long-term preservation. We can provide both by agreement.
What you receive
We agree the output before work begins, keep your originals identifiable and explain what automatic correction can and cannot achieve.
Resolution is matched to the original and the intended display, print or archival use.
Brightness, contrast and colour can be corrected without making old photographs look artificial.
Files can be named and grouped by box, album, year, event or your own sequence.
Originals are handled discreetly, kept together and returned after the order is completed.
Scanning cannot recreate detail that is missing from a very small, blurred or severely damaged original. Digital ICE works well on many colour films but is not suitable for traditional silver-based black-and-white film. Complex reconstruction and retouching are quoted separately.

Prices are per scanned item. The final scope and delivery time are confirmed after we know the quantity, condition, format and requested processing.

FAQ
The points customers most often need before sending irreplaceable originals.

If they can be removed without damage, loose photographs are easier to scan. Never force photographs that are stuck or fragile; send photos of the album first so we can advise you.
